This catalog exists because redaction software is bought under pressure — a disclosure deadline, an audit, a breach — and the market is hard to compare. Vendors publish prices in different units, some publish none at all, and "free" can mean a free tier or a fortnight's trial depending on who wrote the page.

These pages say how we deal with that: what we check, what we refuse to do, and how to tell us we are wrong.

Methodology is the one to read first. It covers where every published figure comes from, how provenance is marked, what a tool has to clear before it becomes a page, and how corrections work. If you only read one page, read that one.

For buyers

Reading a listing walks through every field on a tool's page and says what it does and does not claim. Pricing units explains why two published prices usually cannot be compared as printed, and the price calculator is the answer to that — it costs each plan against a volume you supply, using the vendor's own rate. The glossary defines the terms the filters use.

For vendors

If your tool is listed, or should be: submitting a tool, claiming a listing, correcting a price, what you can change and logos and screenshots.

The short version: you are the authority on what you charge, and no vendor has a path to a published number that does not pass a person.
