What you can change
The exact fields a verified owner may edit, the ones they may not, and why the line falls where it does.
Once a claim is approved, you can propose changes to your listing. "Propose" is the operative word: every change is reviewed before it is published.
The line is drawn at anything a reader would use to compare tools against each other.
Yours to propose
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Name | |
| Tagline | One line, shown under the name |
| Summary | Short description used in listings and cards |
| Website | |
| Pricing page | The most useful field here — it is what our price checks read |
| Documentation | |
| Logo URL | See logos and screenshots |
| From the vendor | Your own copy, published in its own labelled block |
| Facets | Media, deployment, method, compliance, platform, capability, audience |
"From the vendor" is a real block on your listing, marked as yours. It is the place to say what you want said in your own words. What it does not do is count toward the several-hundred-word minimum a listing must clear — that has to be our own writing, or the catalog stops being a comparison.
Facets travel as a whole list. You propose the complete set rather than adding or removing one at a time, and the set is reviewed together. They are the one editable thing a reader filters on, so they get the same review as everything else.
Not yours, at any status
| Field | Why |
|---|---|
| Slug | It is a published URL — in the sitemap, in inbound links, with no redirect story |
| Status | Draft, published, archived is a lifecycle transition, not an edit |
| Our description | The comparison itself. See above |
| Strengths and limitations | Our editorial judgement |
| Editor notes | Internal |
| Prices | Proposals only — see correcting a price |
| Plans and their limits | Same route |
| Benchmark scores | Measured, not stated |
| Sort order, first-party flag | Placement is not for sale, and if a tool is ours the listing says so |
| Last verified / price freshness stamps | Set by the price checking process. Typing them by hand would make the staleness signal a lie |
Why review at all
Because the alternative does not work. A catalog whose entries are written by the vendors being compared is a directory of marketing copy, and a buyer can get that from the vendors directly. The review is the product.
It is not adversarial. Most proposals are corrections to things we got wrong or that changed, and those go through quickly.
Correcting a price
The only route from a vendor to a published price — how a proposal is reviewed, how it is labelled once live, and why it can never be overwritten by automation.
Logos and screenshots
What we need for a tool's imagery, what happens to an upload, and why a screenshot is not live the moment you add it.
