Worked out from each plan's published rate, reading the figures above as one month's work. Subscription plans read Included in the plan rather than a per-document figure: a monthly fee is not a per-document price, and dividing one into the other would need a volume no vendor publishes. A metered plan is priced past its allowance at its published overage rate; one that caps out with no such rate says so instead of quoting a price it would not honour.

Our assessment

PRIVACUT is a small, privacy-first web tool for removing sensitive details from PDFs before they are shared. Detection is rule-based: the vendor says it uses pattern and contextual rules and no third-party generative AI, and it is upfront that detection can miss or misclassify data, so the workflow makes the user review every proposed redaction before export.

The privacy model is the main selling point. The vendor states that original PDF bytes stay in the browser and that submitted content is not retained, and the redacted file is converted to an image-based PDF locally, which removes the underlying text layer rather than just drawing boxes over it. A separate text workspace lets users paste content and get back a copy with sensitive values swapped for placeholders.

The limits are tight: searchable PDFs only (no OCR, so scans are not supported), up to 5 MB and 10 pages per file. No compliance certifications are claimed.

Pricing is counted per completed operation (a safe copy or a verified PDF redaction), not per page. The free tier includes 3 operations a month. Personal is $9.99/month for 25, Pro $24.99/month for 100 and Business $59.99/month for 300. One-time credit packs (10 for $4.99, 25 for $9.99, 60 for $19.99) are used only after the monthly allowance runs out.

Strengths

  • Original PDF stays in the browser; vendor says submitted content is not retained
  • Output is flattened to an image-based PDF, so the redacted text is actually gone
  • Rule-based detection with no third-party generative AI
  • Mandatory review step before export
  • Text workspace for placeholder-based redaction of pasted content

Limitations

  • Searchable PDFs only: no OCR, so scanned documents are not supported
  • Small limits: 5 MB and 10 pages per file
  • Free tier is only 3 operations a month
  • No compliance certifications claimed
  • Flattened image output loses text selection and searchability
