Our assessment
Nitro positions itself as the cheaper per-seat alternative to Acrobat for organisations that mostly need editing, conversion and signing, with redaction as part of the package. The redaction tool itself is conventional: mark text or areas, apply, and the content is removed from the file rather than hidden.
The trade-off is platform reach. Nitro is a Windows product first and its macOS and web coverage lags, so mixed-fleet teams tend to end up with two tools. Detection is manual, with no entity recognition, which makes it a poor fit for high-volume document review but perfectly adequate for redacting a handful of contracts a week.
